While salad might not sound satisfying to some people, it's been a love of mine since the beginning of the year. I started an amazing diet in January and am proud to say I have dropped 43 pounds. How did I do it?

I started eating non processed food. I shopped "around" the grocery stores for healthier, fresh items that I could consume. There's no more Kraft Mac & Cheese in my life let alone senseless carbs like buns and bread. I also eliminated dairy from my diet as well. I feel amazing, I have more energy now then I did when I was 22. Eating healthier not only helped me lose weight, it also helped me when it comes to sleep. I sleep like a rock nowadays and might get up once during the night. I used to get up at least 6 times every night.

Eating healthy doesn't mean that you have to eat boring food. A salad bar can satisfy your hunger while providing healthy options in doing so. When I hit a salad bar I am on the lookout for protein that I can put on my salad and I also load it up with veggies. Chickpeas are always a welcome addition to any salad.

I admit, before I started eating healthy I was turned off by it because I didn't think the "new food" I was eating would have any taste.
