‘Yoopers’ Finally Get Some Respect

Remember when the movie, Escanaba in da Moonlight, came out in 2001 and everyone was excited because the ‘Yoopers’ were finally getting some recognition? Well, that’s nothing compared to what was just announced. Are you ready for this?

According to the Lansing State Journal, the word ‘yooper’ is going to be in the 2014 edition of Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary.  There apparently has been a decade-long campaign to get the term recognized and now it’s apparently going to happen! See kids, this is why you should never give up on your dreams!

I can hear the Tim Allen commercials already…
