Detroit has palm trees. It's not a global warming thing. It's a Motor City Casino thing.

According to MetroTimes.com, Motor City Casino, "thought it was a fun idea in terms of sprucing up the surrounding area". So they had five palm trees planted on Grand River, next to the casino. First, that had to cost a bunch.  And second - what about the fact that palm trees don't do well in cold places - like Detroit? Yeah, they die when it gets below 25 degrees, so they'll be moved later this year to someplace that can give them a home, indoors - possibly the Detroit Zoo. Until then - if you have a Tigers cap, a mustache and a Hawaiian shirt - have at it with your "Magnum P.I." selfies, "Tom Selleck". (And, if you can find one of these new "Michigan pelicans", that would just add to the realism)
