If you have some macadamia nuts sitting around you might want to give them a closer look before you pop a few in you mouth.

According to Fox 17 West Michigan, some products produced by Mauna Loa have been subject to a voluntary recall due to potential E. coli contamination.

It looks like contamination was detected in the well water and distribution system that supplies the Mauna Loa facility on Macadamia Road in Kea’au, Hawaii, and specifically pertains to products produced at this facility between September 6th and September 21st.

There have been no reports as yet of illness. Stores who sell Mauna Loa macadamia nut products that they received after September 6th have been asked to take the items off the shelves. If you have bought these products you should either try to return them or dispose of them immediately.
