Waverly School students are safe after a recent lockdown.

The Lansing State Journal reports that the Waverly elementary, middle, and high schools were put on a "shelter-in-place" lockdown Friday afternoon due to a nearby retail fraud incident. The Waverly Community Schools made the following Facebook post about the lockdown.

The suspect involved in the retail fraud fled police and was seen in the area of Winans Elementary School, prompting the lockdown. The students were dismissed at their normal times, but with some increased police presence at the schools.
