Two summers ago, my lovely wife and I decided to really see the U.P. and we ended up in Copper Harbor, which is about as far north in Michigan you can go without hopping on a boat. We both loved it. Somebody over at MLive.com seems to be a big fan, too.

While WE were there, we stayed at a cool bed & breakfast called the Dapple Gray B&B. It's half bed and breakfast and half antique store. We stayed in the "Lincoln" room - a room with an Abe Lincoln theme. (The owners are history buffs and their son is named Abe) And we went to dinner at the Harbor Haus Restaurant. Good stuff. There's not a whole lot to the town of Copper Harbor, but the whole area is beautiful. If the furthest north you've been in the U.P. is the McDonald's in St. Ignace, some summer, soon, you owe it to yourself to go WAY up north.

The guy who wrote the article on MLive does a good job of explaining all the things you can see and do up there. Plus, he shares the "Copper Harbor - Iggy Pop" connection. Obviously, the Dapple Gray B&B needs to add an "Iggy" themed room.
