There's a new tick in town.

As it gets warmer, you might want to be on the lookout for a new (to Michigan) tick species - the Lone Star tick. New species, same fun disease threats. According to ClickOnDetroit.com, the Lone Star Tick is common in wooded areas with a deer population.

So if you (or your dog) gets bitten, the good news is you've found a great place for deer-hunting in the fall.

Bad news? A possible general feeling of weakness and fatigue within a few weeks.

Here's the story. With a handy "tick identifier" graphic.
