Here we go, again.

According to ClickOnDetroit.com, next week, the MI House Committee on Traffic and Infrastructure will meet to discuss raising the speed limit on RURAL sections of freeways to 80 MPH.

Insurance companies don't think this is a good idea.

Experts from the Michigan National Motorists Association say research shows that raising the speed limit would reduce tailgating and excessive passing. Have they been on 69, 96 or 94 recently? There are a lot of people who apparently need to get across the state of Michigan in a hurry. And they would prefer it if you would not get in their way - even if you're going 80 MPH.

That said, I have no problem raising the speed limit. Everybody's going that fast already. And let's just say - on Jefferson family trips, my "speed management skills" would not be called into question as much.
