This Saturday (July 14th), the State of Michigan will have another surplus sale at their MiStore on W. St. Joseph in Lansing. The sale will be from 8AM to Noon at 3111 W. St. Joseph, Bldg. 600.

On sale will be property seized by police, items that had to be surrendered at airport security and old stuff (usually furniture) that the state no longer needs.

I've been to these sales before. First of all - you'd be AMAZED at how many pocketknives the state collects in just one month (it's in the hundreds) from airport security. My Swiss Army knife went to the state, years ago, on my way to the Daytona 500. So, if you need a good, cheap knife....Also, the DNR collects some good stuff when they bust poachers and you'll see some of that for sale - along with jewelry that cops have confiscated. And if you need an office chair or desk, they'll have a bunch of those for sale.

My advice - get there early, 'cuz there's limited parking available.
