Good news, if you're into hunting and fishing in the U.P.  According to MLive.com, the State of Michigan has just secured the rights to 1300 acres in Houghton County, south of Houghton, on the Keweenaw Peninsula. The land is still privately owned still, but the DNR has the right to manage it as state land. That means you can go hunting, hiking and fishing there (this piece of land includes 3.5 miles of the Pilgrim River) I bet there's some trout in there.

Here's the story. I don't know if there's any moose there. I just liked the photo.
