The state of Michigan recently announced that they will be giving approximately $25 million dollars in grants to select public and private schools throughout Michigan to upgrade their door locks and for other security features in the buildings. Several schools in the Lansing area are on the list of schools that automatically qualify for those funds. Those schools include Lansing Catholic High School, Lansing Christian School, Stockbridge Community Schools and Williamston Community Schools.

According to report from WILX, there are other school districts that are on a list of districts that will have to 'match' to qualify for their funds. Some of the schools on that list include Leslie Public Schools and Bellevue High School. Over 400 schools submitted applications in hopes of receiving some of the grant money. Click here to find out more and to see the other schools in the area that will be getting grant money.
