According to Food Safety News, 32 cases of salmonella have been reported in Michigan due to pre-cut melons. The pre-cut melons were purchased at various locations including Walmart and Kroger stores throughout the Midwest. The salmonella cases were reported starting on April 30th and lasting through May 28th. Stores have removed the affected pre-cut melons from store shelves. However, officials still say that you should throw away all pre-cut melons immediately. This includes cantaloupe, watermelon and fruit salads that contain pre-cut melon purchased at Walmart or Kroger. Indiana, Illinois, Ohio and Missouri are also affected by the pre-cut melon salmonella outbreak.
