MLive reports that police are on the scene of an apparent shooting that took place today just outside T.A. Wilson Academy in Jackson.

The shooting is said to have taken place on a school bus just outside the academy. During the shooting, Jackson Police Lt. Christopher Simpson reports that one student was shot. The student, who was hit in the upper extremities, was taken to Henry Ford Allegiance Health.

Police surrounded the school at around 2:45 pm and began searching for the suspect, who they believe "fled northbound in the 300 block of Biddle Street." Jackson Police Deputy Chief describes the suspect "as a black male in his late teens or early 20s, approximately 5-foot-7-inches tall with a thin build and long dreadlocks and wearing a black hooded shirt."
