People I Meet

One of the best things about this job is the people that I get to meet.

A great example of this would be the people you see in this photo. On the left is Leo Murphy, and on the right is his wife of 56 years, Jan.

I met them on Saturday at the Eagle Community Extravaganza at Eagle Park, which was presented by Believers Christian Church.

Jan has quite a long history as a Wittle listener, and she and Leo were celebrating their 56th wedding anniversary that very day at the Extravaganza. I was honored to be a part of that special event.

As our conversation was winding down and the Murphy's were ready to leave, Jan asked me to take my sunglasses off so she could see what I looked like. Here is the conversation as I remember it:

Jan: "Take your sunglasses off so I can see what you look like."

Me: "Oh, I'm a handsome devil...(chuckling)...I'm just kidding."

I take my sunglasses off and Jan gives me a good look.

Jan: "You're right...you were just kidding."

Me: Uproarious laughter...

I had thought so before, but right then I knew...

I really like that Jan Murphy.
