Payless ShoeSource Stores May Soon Be Closing

Gymboree announced that they will be closing stores. Charlotte Russe announced that they will be closings stores and now comes word that Payless Shoesource could be closing their stores as well. According to a report from CNBC, Payless ShoeSource is preparing for its second bankruptcy, which means that the discount shoe retailer could close most--if not all--of their 2,700 stores. According to the report, Payless is looking for buyers for its real estate and if it can't find a buyer, it may need to shutter the majority, if not all, of its North American stores. Back in April of 2017, Payless filed for bankruptcy protection and closed nearly 400 stores throughout the United States.

Payless has several locations in the Lansing area including a store in Okemos, a store on South Cedar Street, a location inside the Lansing Mall and a store in Charlotte. There's also stores in Jackson, Corunna and Howell.
