The Great Basin National Park is located on the Nevada/Utah border. In the middle of nowhere. This is where you go if you want to get away from all the light pollution and take pictures of the Milky Way. Recently, employees of the park found a Winchester Model 1873 rifle leaning against a juniper tree - right where they think somebody left it...132 years ago.

According to the people at Winchester the serial number on the rifle identifies it as being made and shipped in 1882. So, maybe it wasn't left out there in 1882 - but it's been out there a long time. The park will make sure it won't deteriorate anymore and then it will be put on display somewhere at the park.
