If you are spending time today remembering and honoring those who lost their lives during the 9/11 attacks, make sure you stop by the Meridian Mall.

According to the Lansing State Journal, the Meridian Mall is featuring the 9/11 Quilt Project today from 10 am to 9 pm. The project features 200 quilts that are made up of squares that have red, white, and blue star motifs.

The project was started by Amy Sue Leasure of Prescott, AZ who "put the call out to quilters to donate 12-inch quilted squares" in the patriotic motif; one for every victim of the attacks. Leasure would need 7,500 squares to accomplish that goal... she ended up receiving "nearly 20,000 from over 30 countries." Sadly, Leasure passed away in 2002, but the project was finished by Brian Kohler in 2004.

The exhibit is featured at the food court entrance of the Meridian Mall today. And it is free to see, but donations are welcome. Click here for more details.
