Officially opening on Sunday is the longest "canopy walk" in the U.S. - and it's right here in Michigan. According to MLive.com, Whiting Forest, in Dow Gardens in Midland will reopen Sunday with a 1,400-foot-long canopy walk overlooking forest, ponds, meadows and an apple orchard. At its highest point, the walk 40 feet above the ground.

The Whiting Forest takes up about half of Dow Gardens. It's taken four years and about $20 million to get to this point. The canopy will be open year round, except for a few holidays and during bad weather. Probably because they don't want you sliding off the canopy walk when you're 40 feet up. But that's just a guess.
