As we get ready for the fall months in Michigan, drivers should be getting ready to avoid the deer...  According to Michigan Traffic Crash Facts, there were approximately 45,690 reported car-deer crashes last year throughout the state of Michigan. Over 1,000 people were injured in those accidents and six people were killed.

    Last year, Eaton County reported 1,077 car versus deer accidents. TIP: Officials say that the highest number of reported vehicle-deer collisions in the state of Michigan in 2014 occurred during the 6:00 PM to 8:59 PM time period.

    Lapeer County

    According to Michigan Traffic Crash Facts, last year officials in Lapeer County reported 1,153 car/deer accidents. TIP: Officials remind motorists to slow down if they see a deer, even if it has already crossed the road.

    Jackson County

    Jackson County comes in at #3 in last year's tally of car/deer crashes with a reported total of 1,279. TIP: Keep in mind that about 42% of the accidents last year occurred during the months of October, November and December.

    Kent County was #2 on the list of car-deer crashes in 2014 with a reported number of 1,338. TIP: Remember that because deer tend to travel in groups, there could be more nearby, waiting to cross.

    And the worse county in 2014 in Michigan for car-deer crashes was Oakland County. Last year, the county reported 1,750 accidents involving a vehicle and a deer.
