When he was 13 years old, Michigan's own Erik Jones (he's from Byron) was winning races at the Owosso Speedway. When Erik was 17, he was the youngest winner in the history of NASCAR, when he won the Truck Series race at Phoenix. Now he's 18 and - if everything works out - he'll be racing in the Sprint Cup Series, with the best in NASCAR, this Sunday in Atlanta.

Kyle Busch is still in the hospital, after a horrific wreck at Daytona last Saturday (a wreck that Erik may have started). Kyle's right leg and left foot were broken in the crash. According to NBC Sports, Kyle's out indefinitely, so Joe Gibbs Racing needs a fill-in driver for the No. 18 M&Ms car. Enter Erik, who's under contract to Joe Gibbs Racing to race in the Xfinity Series this year and races in the Truck Series for Kyle Busch Motorsports. Erik met with Joe Gibbs yesterday and it looks like he's the guy for this Sunday when they race in Atlanta. Pretty cool, huh?

Congrats to Erik - here's the whole story.

UPDATE: Erik will be in the No.18 at a later date - possibly in May. This weekend, however, David Ragan will be driving the "Crispy M&Ms" car in Atlanta. Click here for the full story.
