Attention all motorists and bicyclists! Michigan's new bike law starts today; here's what you need to know!

WILX reports that today is the official start date of the law that Governor Rick Snyder signed back in June. The law states that drivers need to give bicyclists "at least three feet when passing them." If it's not possible to give at least three feet of space, motorists are required to then pass "at a safe distance and speed."

Hopefully this new law will help to lessen the amount of vehicle/bicycle collisions and fatalities. If you want to be well versed in Michigan's bicycle laws, whether you're a motorist or a bicyclist, click here.
