The event has been going for 81 years, however, officials say it won't be happening this year. According to the Michigan Daily, The Mud Bowl, an event that is organized by the now disbanded fraternity chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon at the University of Michigan, has been called off. The Interfraternity Council has said that this year's Mud Bowl will not take place due to a "standing policy that forbids fraternities from co-sponsoring events with chapters that have been disbanded."

The event is usually held near the fraternity house in conjunction with homecoming events at the University of Michigan. For the event, the fraternity members dump water in the yard and hold a charity touch football game. In the last five years, the event has raised more than $100,000 for C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital.

A Change.org petitition calling on officials to allow Sigma Alpha Epsilon to reinstate the Mud Bowl currently has 1,421 signatures and some former SAE members say they will still try and hold the event and host it as "independent students." Stay tuned...
