The Michigan DNR has completed their bi-annual survey of the Michigan elk herd, and according to MLive.com, the herd is healthy and growing rapidly.

Two years ago the elk herd in Michigan stood at about 670 animals. This year the DNR estimated that there are around 1371. The DNR likes to limit the herd to between 500 and 900 elk.

I see more elk tags in everybody's future.
