Michigan DNR officials have scheduled an additional firearm hunting season for hunters in Alpena County. The extra season for antlerless deer will take place from January 4th through the 7th and again from January 1th through the 14th. According to the Detroit Free Press, one of the reasons for the additional hunting season is "to better align the harvest ratios" of antlered deer and antlerless deer in that area. The hunt will be held on private land south of state Highway 32.
