If you're a fan of Petoskey stones, get to the beach this weekend. According to MLive.com, recent storms with gales up to 45 MPH may have caused waves to push large numbers and bigger rocks onto beaches. The wave action will at least uncover stones that have been buried for quite some time.

And while the best place to find Petoskey stones is further north on Lake Michigan, geologists from the DNR say they could be anywhere in the state.

Peter Rose, from the Michigan DNR says,

"There could be a different suite of rocks visible compared to prior to the storm, and you may have a better chance of finding some of the more highly sought after specimens such as Petoskey stones and agates."

So, get to the beach with your bucket. Bonus - no stepping over sunbathers this time of the year.
