Anybody who's ever mowed a lawn or sat with a beer looking at their backyard wishes it looked like the grass on the field at Spartan Stadium. I love the fact that Michigan State plays football on real grass. Spartan Stadium switched back from artificial turf in 2002. And why not? MSU is one of the great ag colleges in the world. And the lady who manages the turf at Spartan Stadium is Amy Fouty. Since Amy and the real grass has been there, Spartan Stadium has been named the collegiate football field of the year - twice.

According to a profile on MLive.com, Amy got her education at State, but then went on to be the turf manager at the University of Michigan. And, when she left to come back to manage the program at State, they tore out the grass at The Big House and put in artificial turf.

I don't know - that sounds like an angry over-reaction on the part of the U of M.

Good article. With some information that may explain why we don't have more concerts in Spartan Stadium. Here's the story..
