Michigan State is now ranked #18 in the College Football Playoff rankings. This will not be the year the Spartans play for a national championship. It looks like we'll leave that to our Wolverine friends - this year.

HOWEVER - the Spartans could find themselves playing in the Rose Bowl. According to our friend Chris Solari and Graham Couch at the Lansing State Journal, a lot has to swing in State's favor and we'll need Michigan's help - but it COULD happen. Here's how:

Michigan State has to beat Ohio State this Saturday and win the rest of their regular season games (possible)

Michigan has to win the rest of their games and beat their probable opponent, Northwestern, in the Big Ten Championship game. (very possible)

And the Rose Bowl committee would have to review their scrapbook from the Rose Bowl five years ago to remember how much fun Spartan fans were. (slam dunk)
