Scientists are predicting a strong geomagnetic storm will occur tonight. You can thank the sun and an abnormally strong burst of solar wind. What this means for us is the STRONG possibility of northern lights in Michigan, including here in Mid-Michigan.

(Go ahead, laugh at your, "the sun farted and we get a show" joke. And now back to our story.)

In fact, according to MLive.com, northern lights may be seen directly overhead of us in Michigan (not low on the horizon) and may be seen as far south as Oklahoma. That'll freak out out some Sooners, huh?

You'll still have to get someplace dark to see them, but the weather should be clear, so it's looking good. If you get some nice photos, share them them on the WITL Facebook page.
