Michigan's newest state park will be located east of Brooklyn, in Jackson and Washtenaw counties. According to the Free Press, the state paid almost $3 million for 700 acres in Jackson County, right next to 400 acres it owns in Washtenaw County. All together, this will become the new Watkins Lake State Park and County Preserve.

I'm going to assume you will be able to fish Watkins Lake and they say the park will also be used for hiking, birdwatching, upland hunting and mountain biking.

It will be Michigan's 103rd state park. This is why you bought that "recreation passport" sticker for your license plate.
