Last Sunday, Greg Gasiciel was fishing in a tournament on Hubbard Lake, in Alcona County, when he hooked a big smallmouth bass. Turned out it was so big, it's now the Michigan state record smallmouth. According to FieldandStream.com, Greg's smallie weighed 9 pounds, 5.28 ounces and was 24.5 inches long. The previous record smallmouth was caught back in 1906, on Long Lake, just north of Alpena.
