Tomorrow (June 28th) is the day to celebrate the life of one of Michigan's most famous and beloved residents - Paul Bunyan (and Babe - his blue ox). Many towns in Michigan and Minnesota (and Bangor, Maine) claim Paul as their own - BUT - the truth is that on November 6, 2006, the State of Michigan designated Oscoda, Michigan as Paul Bunyan's official home.

Further proof that Michigan is Paul's real home - the trophy given to the winner of the Michigan v Michigan State football game is a statue of Paul Bunyan. (The Minnesota v Wisconsin game winner gets a Paul Bunyan Axe trophy - but....it's just his axe, so....)

How you celebrate is up to you - wear suspenders and flannel, act tall, paint your favorite dairy bull blue (I'd like to see those photos if you do).

Have fun. Here's some information from mentalfloss.com about Oscoda and the other sadly mistaken cities that claim Paul and Babe.
