Earlier this month, the Michigan DNR responded to a "nuisance bear" complaint from Boyne Falls, near Charlevoix, MI. According to MLive.com, a man there reported his beagle had been outside, on a cable leash, when a black bear came into his yard and attacked his dog. The dog owner got between the two and started kicking the bear while he tried to untangle the cable. That's when the bear bit the dog. And the dog owner punched the bear in the nose. The bear backed off long enough for the owner to grab the beagle and get inside his house.

The beagle survived, but had to get several stitches. The owner was told to stop putting out food for deer and turkeys.

And the bear? Well, that's just embarrassing. I'm hoping he's taking a long look in a mirror and thinking about life choices.
