Man In Michigan–Caught With 51 Turtles In Pants–Pleads Guilty

Yep. It's true. A man from Canada was trying to smuggle some turtles and taped 51 of them to his body. (Sure hope he didn't use that gorilla tape--ouch!)

According to the Detroit Free Press, the Canadian man has pleaded guilty to smuggling or attempting to smuggle thousands of turtles from southeastern Michigan, more than a year after he was caught at a border crossing with 51 turtles taped to his body. He reportedly ordered the turtles online and would travel to the U.S. to ship them to China or return with them to Canada. The 27-year-old turtle smuggler pleaded guilty in federal court earlier this week in Ann Arbor.
