It was 130 years ago this week (July 10th) that the first guests arrived at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island. This is after 400 carpenters, working with a million feet of Michigan white pine from the Cheboygan area, built the place.

And if you haven't seen the Grand Hotel in person yet - just do it this summer sometime. I believe every person living in Michigan should have that on their bucket list. It's that cool.

To celebrate this week, The Grand Hotel chugged some champagne and then shared some old photos with the folks at MLive.com. You can check them out here.
