Mackinac Island Travel Situation – An Update Right From The Island

Yesterday (Thursday) I posted this story about the problem of getting to Mackinac Island, with so much ice still surrounding the island.

I have an update on the situation from Tim Hygh, Executive Director of the Mackinac Island Convention and Visitors Bureau. Here's the email I got from Tim this morning:

   I saw your story on line and just wanted to let you know it's easy to get to the Island. We are directing guests to fly from St. Ignace on Great Lakes Air. It's a cool 7-minute flight and you get to see The Mackinac Bridge, Lake Michigan and Lake Huron.

   Just didn't want you or your listeners to think we are isolated here. Grand Hotel opens today. We're off and running.

So, there you have it. The "World's Largest Front Porch" awaits.
