When I was in high school, I played basketball for a couple of years and played varsity softball for four years. I can still clearly remember the excitement when we traveled for away games to other high schools. But I can also clearly remember that I never, ever, took valuables with me on these road trips. For that matter, I never kept my valuables with me at home games, either...and this story is exactly why...

On Wednesday night, the JV football team from Howell was playing a game against Everett High School. While the teams were on the field, thieves were in the locker room of the visiting team. According to the Lansing State Journal, cell phones, backpacks, jewelry, headphones and other items belonging to members of the Howell football team were stolen out of the locker room at Everett High School. School officials are working the police to try and find the stolen merchandise and anyone with information is urged to call Sgt. Jeromy Churchill at (517) 483-6816.

In the meantime, here's a reminder....keep your valuable stuff at home and if you can, it might be a good idea to bring your own padlock!
