Everybody talks a good game about bringing police and local communities together - finally, somebody figured out a good way to do it.

In an effort to support local law enforcement officers and present a community building event, "Back the Badge Michigan" and "Back the Blue 5K" will host the first Lansing "Back the Blue 5K" on September 23rd at Adado Riverfront Park. The 5K will start at 9AM, followed by a one mile fun run at 9:45AM. The 5K will only be a small part of the event. They plan on having entertainment, food, vendors and vehicles from a lot of the local police departments. And you don't have to run. Just show up, introduce yourself and  learn a little about your local cops.

If you do run or walk, at the finish line, you'll be able to get your picture taken next to the "I Out Ran the Cops at the Back the Blue 5K" banner. (And THAT has Facebook profile photo written all over it) Each race registrant will get a dri-fit race shirt, race medal, lunch and 50% off select merchandise at time of registration.

Sounds like a good idea, all the way around.
