According to a report from the Detroit News, someone stole over $100,000 worth of historic political pins from a hotel in suburban Detroit. Ken Hosner, a retired history teacher from Kalamazoo, says he loaded up eight display tables with items in a locked ballroom on Friday night. He says he noticed the theft when he returned before the show opened Saturday morning. Hosner says he's done shows for decades without having any problems but adds that he "should have known better than to set this up the night before."

Hosner spent approximately eleven hours with the police on Sunday developing a list of the items that were taken. He says that those responsible were selective about which pins they took because they left some of the lower priced items and grabbed the most valuable from his displays including five Abraham Lincoln presidential campaign pins and presidential pins of Theodore Roosevelt and McKinley.

Hosner wasn't the only victim. He says that another dealer who also set up the night before reported about $500 in silver spoons that were stolen. An investigator has been assigned to the case and Hosner is offering a reward for more information leading to the return of his property.
