It's about time to go picking.

Yeah, Summer is nice and all, but we're about to get into my FAVORITE season/time of the year... Fall! And it can't be Fall in Michigan without some fresh apples. But how do you know when it's time to pick that perfect apple? MLive did the leg work this year and broke it down.

Up first, and up soon too, are Paula Reds. You can pick those starting August 24th. Next up; Gingergold, which will be ripe for the picking starting August 26th. Third in line (my favorite apple) is the Gala, which will be ready September 10th. Following Gala will be the Michigan McIntosh, which will be ripe for picking on September 14th. Honeycrisp - a very popular type of apple - will be ready on September 18th.

If you want to plan your you-pick Michigan cider mill adventures, check out the video below that MLive put together showing all the apples and their prime picking dates!
