It's finally here.

Back in December, HopCat CEO Mark Gray announced that HopCat as a whole would be changing the name of their signature item; crack fries. No longer would they be called "crack" fries, a tongue-in-cheek reference to the cracked pepper included in the magical seasoning that adorned those fried potatoes, because "drug addiction is not a joke". So today, the new name was unveiled....

Cosmik Fries

MLive reports that HopCat owner and founder Mark Sellers says the name "Cosmik Fries" is in reference to Frank Zappa and his song, "Cosmik Debris". Zappa's "Cosmik Debris" is an anti-drug song, which goes hand in hand with one of the main reasons HopCat decided to change the name of their signature item in the first place -- drug addiction is not a joke.

While the name may have changed, the look -- and most importantly -- the taste of HopCat's fries have not changed. If you feel like ordering some Cosmik Fries just to be sure, HopCat in East Lansing is open until midnight tonight. Get more info on the name change here.
