Grass Lake Teen Competing In National Spelling Bee

According to WILX, a Jackson County teenager will be competing in the National Spelling Bee this week.  Sean Hickey, who is in the seventh grade at Grass Lake Middle School, will compete against 280 other students from across the U.S. and other other countries including Japan, Ghana and South Korea.

A total of eleven kids from Michigan will be competing in the 2014 Scripps National Spelling Bee. The preliminaries will be held tonight in Washington, D.C. Semi-finals are set for Thursday morning, while the championship will air Thursday night at 8pm, live on ESPN.
