You can fish for free again this weekend (February 16th & 17th) in Michigan! According to the Michigan DNR, all fishing license fees will be waived this Saturday and Sunday and a Recreation Passport will NOT be required for entry into state parks and recreation areas this weekend. Residents and out-of-state visitors may enjoy fishing on both inland and Great Lakes' waters for all species of fish.

There are lots of events to check out this weekend throughout the state of Michigan for Free Fishing Weekend. Some of the events that are closer to the Lansing area include the Park Lake Ice Fishing Event in East Lansing. Or you in Okemos, you can check out the Meridian Township Youth Ice Fishing Derby. Check out the entire list of events by clicking here.

If you'd rather wait until it's a little warmer, keep in mind that the next Free Fishing Weekend in Michigan will be happening June 8th and 9th.
