Former MSU coach Nick Saban was the difference in Alabama election
This really happened.
During last night's special senate election in Alabama: Alabama head football coach (and former Michigan State head coach) Nick Saban got almost 20,000 write-in votes.
As it stands right now, Democrat Doug Jones beat Republican Roy Moore.
By how much? About 20,000 votes.
Here's the story from MLive.com, with totals as of midnight last night.
Here are the updated vote totals from NBC this morning. Still about a 20,000 vote gap.
