A couple of days ago this story came up in a tweet from Lansing State Journal sports writer Chris Solari, who I follow and, who wrote the story. I was blown away. Not only by the writing (nice job as always, Chris) but by the dedication of a guy who's kept his love of baseball alive, even when the game has sometimes given him the cold shoulder. And he's stuck with a career in the military, even though he's apparently been injured seriously - twice.

Brian Holcomb used to play high school baseball for Mason. After high school he joined the Navy and became a corpsmen (a medic) and saw combat. He's still active duty. And he's going to college for his bachelor's degree in nursing at Jacksonville State in Florida.

And that's all you need to know, so that I don't spoil the story.
