ELGAR- Enigma Variations, Op. 36

Join us for a program of intrigue, as mystery lies behind the identities represented in Elgar’s “Enigma” Variations. Mozart incorporated what was known as “Turkish music” into his opera, TheAbduction from the Seraglio, a sound and style that captivated many composers of the time. The Lansing Symphony’s very own Principal Flute, Richard Sherman, brings his exquisite artistry to Helms’ Seven Ascents for Flute & Orchestra. A founding faculty member of the MSU Community Music School, Helms has written choral, instrumental and orchestral works in addition to music for theatre.Along with the great music, this program also highlights some of the remarkable talent we have in the Lansing area!
