Vocal virtuoso Bobby McFerrin is always exploring new territory, and is known for music that transcends categorization. The Bobby Meets... series evolved naturally over decades as Bobby’s love of surprising new sounds drew him toward onstage meetings with guest artists all over the world. For example, Bobby Meets Indonesia featured a kecak (monkey chant) ensemble, a Gamelan, and traditional mask dancers; Bobby Meets Shanghai featured a Kuquu Opera star, an Erhu player, and a classical ballet dancer; Bobby Meets Ireland featured pipes, recorders, folk dancers, and a harpist; and Bobby Meets Africa in New York featured immigrant master musicians from Mali and Benin. The series has also given him a chance to work with spectacular musicians from Ireland, Turkey, Israel, and Russia.
