Please join us at the Library of Michigan on August 1, 2014 for a full day of programs highlighting how the First World War changed lives right here in our home state. Matthew Stiffler and Lindsay Robillard of the Arab American National Museum will kick off the day talking about how our Middle Eastern neighbors changed as a result of the war. Munitions, troops, medicine, transportation and art will all be discussed during the course of the day. Scholar Helen Zoe Veit will round out the day talking about her book Modern Food, Moral Food: Self-Control, Science, and the Rise of Modern American Eating in the Early Twentieth Century and how food was a means of winning the war and changed life at home. Post-traumatic stress disorder will also be covered by Erin Smith, Ph.D. Chief PTSD Clinic Team Psychologist VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System.. A light breakfast and lunch will be served.
