According to a report from WLNS, the Great Lakes Folk Festival, held annually in downtown East Lansing since 2002, will NOT take place this summer. Information posted on the East Lansing Info wesbite, says that the MSU Museum Director has decided to “put the festival on pause and to reimagine a festival for 2019" and added "that it was too much energy for the MSU Museum.”

The Great Lakes Folk Festival is/was known for its celebration of culture, tradition and community. In previous years, the festival offered one-of-a-kind mix of music and dance stages, demonstrations of traditional arts and storytelling, food, an arts marketplace, and many special activities for kids. Last year's event was held in August in downtown East Lansing.
