DeWitt Woman Fined For Missing Jury Duty
64-year-old Lydia Bell, who now lives in DeWitt, wasn't even living in Michigan when the jury summons was sent in the mail but that apparently doesn't matter. She's been ordered to pay $50 after being arrested for missing jury duty back in 2012. According to the Lansing State Journal, Bell moved to Oregon from Grand Traverse in 2011 and the jury duty notice wasn't forwarded.
So, if you were planning on trying to use the "I didn't get the notice" or "my dog ate it" excuse to get out of jury duty, you have been warned...not a good idea.
