Dangerous Michigan Black Bear Finally Killed

A black bear that attacked a girl while she was jogging near Cadillac almost three years ago has been killed. According to US News and World Report, on April 30th an unidentified man killed the bear after it had mauled his Jack Russell terrier. The dog later died from the injuries.The bear left after attacking the dog, but came back as the man was trying to help his dog, leading the man to kill the bear in self-defense.

DNA analysis at Michigan State showed that this was the same bear that attacked (then) 12-year old Abby Wetherell, while she was jogging in the same area, in August of 2013. That attack required Abby to get 100 stitches. Abby recovered physically from the attack, but was still concerned that the bear was still out there.
